Last Saturday while I was having a 3months old baby portraiture outdoor in Putrajaya, the rain start. We have to stop but try to get some shots under the roof while waiting to go back to our car. The above photos is some that we manage to get. So we decided to continue the session the next day in the morning. Early in the morning I get a message from my client suggesting a new place also in Putrajaya for the morning session, I agreed and we meet there. Surprisingly the place was beautiful (how could i never hear about this place before??). Very well maintain park with flowers and tall pine trees. The weather was really nice that morning that we could continue the session till almost 11am. Love the natural lighting when the sun is covered by the cloud and give very soft lighting…. I get to shoot all using natural lighting… down is some of the shots taken there with my little girl Maisarah Azmir and my little hero Hamzah Azmir while waiting the baby changing her diapers.. 🙂 more photos in my next post.

How to Prepare For A Newborn Portrait Session
So you’ve scheduled a newborn portrait session. Now what? Newborn shoots are completely different from any other portrait session. If you are planning for newborn photos of your little one, read about what a newborn shoot entails so you know what to expect when you go to your portrait session!
1. At AzmirKhalid Studio Portraits we schedule 1-2 hours or more for newborn portrait sessions. It is important to schedule more than enough time for the shoot to make sure the baby gets fed, relaxes for breaks, and of course so we as photographer can get the best photos, sleeping and awake. At AKStudio, we put aside 1-2 hours or more for these sessions which allows plenty of time to move through the shoot at a relaxing pace. Remember to think about this when scheduling your appointment!
2. Newborn portrait sessions are usually encouraged to be taken within the first 10 days of life. This is because they are at their tiniest and can easily fall asleep! Since we will be using props, sets and different textures, we want to be able to pose the baby easily. This is done simply while they are sleeping. So in preparation for your newborn portrait session, remember to feed them right before (we will let you feed them throughout the session as well, hence scheduling a few hours for the shoot) and if possible let them stay awake until the shoot so they are more eager to fall asleep. Advisable 1-2 hours before the session.
3. What should you bring? If you have an outfit in mind that you really want to have your new little one wear, have them wear it before the session so we can photograph them in it first. We provide a few precious accessories for those who love cocoon, hats, headband, etc. At AKStudio we think that the best photos of newborns are when they are not wearing anything at all! Newborns are always most precious in photos when you can see baby parts like toes, hands, tiny baby rolls and those little thick thighs! When the baby grows you will want to remember your little one from the first few days of life. Don’t hesitate to ask us what we have already, and collaborate thoughts and ideas to make sure you are as prepared as possible.
4. Don’t be afraid to take as many breaks as you need during your session. We have seen everything there is to see happen during newborn sessions. So don’t be afraid to breastfeed, change a diaper, take breaks as you need! We understand. It is our job to make sure we get adorable photos, but the trick to newborn sessions is to not push it.
What you can usually expect us to have:
-The studio to be a warm temperature for the baby
-Calm music playing to soothe and relax the room
-Accessories for the baby to wear in photos
-Various colors and textures of blankets and backgrounds
-Props for the baby to sit and lay on for photos (Those adorable baskets and beddings!)
-A sitting area for you and your baby to take breaks! (for studio session)
-An experienced newborn photographer!

The Love Story of Colette Coburn
Hi all, it was a good start for us in 2013. we had done 5 newborns and more coming soon. Very soon like today!! Now i would like to share a maternity session of a lovely mother Qyreenia and Newborn of Colette Coburn. Both of them flew all the way from Canada to give birth in Malaysia and have a Maternity session + Newborn with us.
It was just a week before the baby decide to go out. The session was full of love. Enjoy the photos.

Our First Overseas Trip | 8th May – 20th May 2012
Salam, harapnya semua dalam keadaan sihat sejahtera la ye… Saje nak inform bahawa insyaAllah team AzmirKhalid Studio akan berada di Perth, Australia untuk sesi family portraiture disana. Dah sampai sana, kami sambung bercuti sekali lah…jadi selama 2 minggu bermula dari 7hb malam, telefon kami semua akan tidak dapat dihubungi, sekiranya ada yang nak hubungi kami, boleh buat melalui email atau isi sahaja borang di ruang ‘contact us’ yang disediakan dalam blog ni…insyaAllah akan di balas secepat mungkin.

Milestones: When Should You Photograph Your Baby??
She’s Precious. He’s Perfect. You want to photograph your baby every moment. Although I truly believe that parents should have point and shoot cameras with them at all times, I believe that professional photos can be an amazing addition to remembering these amazing moments. With that said, and perhaps even the given economy, hiring a professional photographer can be well, a little overwhelming should you desire pictures every single day. However, because the quality and artistic talent of a professional can be completely amazing and priceless, I will explain when it is the best time to photograph your new little addition given your baby’s milestones!
THE MATERNITY SESSION
Can’t deny it. The beauty of a mommy to be, a gift from God and truly a work of life. If you are still pregnant and still haven’t photographed your “bump” by a professional now is a great time to find your photographer. Many photographers offer complete baby plans which may include a maternity session. These sessions are amazing! A great addition to your baby book or your couture album celebrating the life of your new baby, from beginning to, well another beginning!
THE NEWBORN SESSION
Feeling a little tired? Most likely. During your baby’s first week of life, you and your family are no doubt going through and amazing adjustment. Trying to figure out sleep. Trying to figure out a lot of things. This is the most unbelievable time to have your baby photographed. I encourage parents to bring their newborn babies in BEFORE 2 weeks of age but even BEFORE 1 week of age, is ideal! Most are looking to have their newborn photographed naked with perhaps an artistic pose. Newborn babies that are just a few days are able to be posed, comfortable naked (as long as they are warm and their bellies are full), and cute as can be. During this time (as a parent I know this) we are too tired to truly appreciate the tiny toes, the blistered lips, the wrinkled back. Your photographer will be able to capture all these tiny details, and create some amazing artistic images. Your baby changes so fast, don’t let this time pass you by before you can capture it professionally.
THE 3-4 MONTH SESSION
You’ve had a newborn session, now what? Your baby is changing by the day! You want to make sure you don’t miss anything right? As mentioned before, we probably wont be taking our children every 5 minutes to a professional. I recommend the next time your child makes strides in their development is the best time to bring them back to your fav photog. At 3 months, your baby is now smiling! Yep, they know who you are! Babies at this age will smile and interact a lot. This is something that they did not do as a newborn. Some babies with also be able to have some tummy time. When positioned on a pillow or my favorite photography prop, the Boppy, a 3-4 month old will be able to place their head up and perhaps peak a smile just long enough for that quick capture! If you are finding that your baby is within this age group and is not yet ready for belly time, which is perfectly fine, wait, YES WAIT, until these shots are possible!
THE 6/7 MONTH SESSION
About this age, there is another milestone, your baby will be grabbing for toys, laughing, first meal and even sitting up! This is a great age and one of my favorite to photograph. Again, if your baby is not yet sitting up, wait a few weeks until that is possible. Please know that sitting up with a parents help and balancing does count! Make sure it is safe and an assistant or parent is near by to catch the lean! Little ones may also enjoy some added clothing for this age. I don’t think babies need a lot of props to enhance photos or clothing for that matter, but as they get older adding them can be fun and their personalities shine so much that your little one for sure be the center of attention in any photo!
9-12 months: What no photo here? Well for a reason. Remember we want to count milestones right? Well, if you capture baby at 6 months, and then at 9 months, not too much has changed. Maybe crawling, and if you want that captured great. If you want to wait, I tell my clients to wait until something is different. As much as your baby has changed since they were born, the older they are getting the more subtle the changes are. I don’t want to disappoint my clients with photos from 2 different sessions that their baby looks the same, and does the same things. I would much rather wait until they are 1, now that is for sure a milestone!
ONE YEAR & BEYOND
Crawling, standing with help or even walking. Teeth! It’s all here by now. This is a milestone for sure! Never fear if your baby is not walking yet (mine were both totally different) you will want to get their portraits done at 1 year! Some of my clients will wait just a couple weeks after their birthday because they know for sure they may be walking. Again, it is up to you. Celebrating your baby’s first year is for both of you! You have been with your little one now for 1 year and can’t imagine life any different. It is time to capture another fantastic moment if their/your life!
So you got that down, you are anticipating when to take your baby to your favorite photographer, and now you are wondering, “what about after my baby is 1?” Then what? I encourage you to stay connected with your photographer. Imagine the images, the collages, the montages capturing your baby from the bump, to 1 year, to after? Your photographer will be able to have all those milestones and create some amazing products you will cherish forever. You will want to capture your toddler and child again at milestones in their life. I encourage every 6 months after they are 1. Once they are 3, time appears to slow down a bit and most of my clients intend to shoot once a year, some still remain on the 6 month time frame. As a professional myself, I have the luxury of shooting my kids many times a year. Like most, I offer incentives at different times of the year to encourage more priceless moments for my clients, take advantage of all those opportunities as I have NEVER heard a parent complain that they have too many pictures of their child!

Hujung tahun memang menjadi masa yang ditunggu-tunggu oleh pelajar-pelajar sekolah. sebab apa lagi kalau bukan cuti sekolah. Tetapi, berbeza pula dengan ibu-bapa, mereka lebih menunggu keputusan atau masa bertemu dengan pendidik anak-anak mereka. Untuk sekolah tadika (preschool), menjadi kebiasaan bagi mereka menganjurkan konsert akhir tahun. Dimana anak-anak didik mereka akan mempersembahkan persembahan dihadapan ibu-bapa mereka. Saat inilah yang dinantikan bagi ibu-bapa yang ada anak di tadika, lagi-lagi anak pertama. Ianya pasti menjadi kenangan yang tidak akan dilupakan.

Pregnancy of Suraya Lunatots
Last Sunday, my wife, Maisarah and I had a great time shooting pregnancy & family Portraits of a great family of Shazwan, Suraya, their 2 Boys Zikry & Zakwan and little one in the tummy at Botanic Garden of Putrajaya. We started from 8am till almost 11am. Their kids and Maisarah had a really wonderful time together. i make sure the kids have more fun then they have to pose… this is some shots on pregnancy portraiture, family portraiture will be coming out soon…. we are really excited to shoot the newborn of Suraya Junior when the time comes…

A DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE | The Memoirs of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad
Hari ni saya sempat menyaksikan pelancaran buku yang sekian lama dinanti-nantikan oleh ramai pihak. Buku yang ditulis oleh mantan perdana menteri malaysia, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad yang diberi judul “A DOCTOR IN THE HOUSE: The Memoirs of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. Ia telah dilancarkan dan dijual diseluruh cawangan MPH dan kedai-kedai buku seluruh negara pada hari ini 8 Mac 2011. Buku dijual dengan harga RM100.00 senaskhah.

Hujung minggu kali ini bagi saya sangat menceriakan kerana dapat bersama-sama 2 newborn baby.Hari Sabtu saya berada di Bangi untuk bertemu seorang hero yang namanya Zarif Syafi..mungkin mengambil sempena pemain bola sepak Safee Sali..hehe.dan hari Ahad saya merantau hingga ke Serdang untuk merakam kenangan abadi bersama seorang puteri yang sangat comel..nama pun belum ada lagi kata mak dan ayahnya….harap anda semua turut merasakan keceriaan saya apabila melihat foto-foto ni….
